FIRE AND RESCUE DEPARTMENT MISSION: 


The mission of the Sidney Fire/Rescue Department is to protect life and property through prompt, professional response to emergencies. We are committed to performing high quality fire prevention, suppression, and emergency medical care; and effective search and rescue operations to those in need. Through proactive public education and strong community involvement, we work to reduce risks and enhance safety awareness. We proudly support the needs of Sidney while providing mutual aid to surrounding communities, ensuring comprehensive emergency and safety services for all.

FIRE AND RESCUE DEPARTMENT VISION:

The Sidney Fire/Rescue Department envisions a future where we increase community awareness through public outreach and education, fostering strong partnerships that promote safety and preparedness. We strive to engage with local students through meaningful programs focused on fire, EMS, and safety. Helping students know how to be and stay safe and inspiring the next generation of responders. Our goal is to strengthen our team through effective recruitment and retention strategies, ensuring a dedicated and skilled workforce. We are committed to maintaining stations that comply with building codes and fully meet the operational needs of the department. By utilizing after action reports for fire and EMS, we will continuously identify and address training needs, advancing our mission of excellence in service and response.

The Warden’s Report service is no longer in use for obtaining burn permits.

To get your permit, please visit:
👉 www.maine.gov/burnpermit

What you'll need:

  • The physical address where the burn will occur
  • A description of the material being burned
  • The ability to show the permit on a mobile device or provide a printed copy

🕘 Permits are available between 9:00 AM and Midnight only.

This applies to:

  • Brush piles
  • Wood debris
  • Agricultural burns
  • And as of October 25, 2023, also for campfires over 3 feet high and 3 feet in diameter
