Town of Sidney Announces Community Celebration and Commemorative Banner for America’s 250th Anniversary
SIDNEY, MAINE — June 25, 2026 — The Town of Sidney is proud to announce the unveiling of a custom patriotic red, white, and blue banner to commemorate the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. As the nation celebrates this historic milestone, the town invites residents, families, and visitors to join the Town in unity to celebrate America!
Designed to serve as a visual reminder of the enduring ideals of the Declaration of Independence.
“These crosswalks, this one at the Town Office and a second one at the Transfer Station, is more than just a colorful addition to our Town office; they are a symbol of our community's connection to the foundational ideals of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness," said the Sidney Select Board. "As we reflect on 250 years of our nation’s history, we wanted to create a highly visible, daily reminder of the values that bring our community together."
The town is also encouraging the residents to display the American flag at their homes and businesses as part of a collective display of national pride.
